Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
