The President Invites Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House

President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Mourners gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Policy Changes

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she aimed to speak to the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
