The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of performers appearing on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The track features a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The team running the initiative have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
