Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered a variety of entertaining creations from small studios. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is literally a dung attempting to make its way to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: press a one button to leap. In 150 challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and access a market to purchase customizations for your poop character.

Time your movements precisely, as a error forces beginning again. Leap on air pockets to launch your character to new heights, cross crumbling platforms, and activate triggers to unlock secret routes. Earn coins for buying more difficult levels where gameplay gets crazy.

In terms of design, the demo boasts vibrant stages and a killer music score. The simple graphics featuring moving basic polygons could recall fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although difficult to think of previous releases where you control a piece of feces, interactive entertainment often featured scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. And of course, such content shows up heavily in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already earned significant recognition, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game set to arrive on computers in the fall.
